Diebold advanced technology leader to present at
Retail Delivery Conference
Jim Block,
Diebold’s director, global advanced technologies, will be a featured
speaker at this year’s
BAI Retail
Delivery Conference and Expo at the Mandalay
Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nev., from Nov. 13-15.
During his presentation titled “The Impact of
Research on Efficiencies in Retail Banking” on Nov. 15 at 2:45 p.m.,
Block will provide an overview of global research conducted with
financial institutions and consumers to better understand their
expectations of the next generation of ATMs. He will also highlight
the power of end-user research and how it impacts all channels, how
the results of usability studies can improve efficiency as well as
how to focus on the voice of the customer.
Diebold showcases comprehensive security solutions at
ASIS
Diebold had a major presence at this year’s
ASIS event
at the Las Vegas Convention Center in Las Vegas,
Nev., from Sept. 24-26.
As a comprehensive
security systems integrator, Diebold featured:

Bullet-resistive rising screen, which is
installed at the teller line and embedded into the teller
counter. These screens can be raised in an instant, separating
tellers from robbers.

Internet protocol (IP) lock with integrated
biometric reader, which is installed on safes. It can
be managed remotely, plus it provides reports and audit trails.

LINX Predator Elite, a government-certified
command and control system.

Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS)
201 solution, which provides federal government agencies with
the foundation needed to comply with the federal standards
resulting from the issuance of Homeland Security Presidential
Directive (HSPD) 12. Implementation of FIPS 201 requires
multiple systems to work together in real time. Diebold designs,
implements and supports these systems, as well as provides the
integration support to ensure seamless interaction.

Event monitoring center card holder
management solution, which contains a card reader integrated
with an alarm and/or video system. The card holder database can
be managed remotely by Diebold's event monitoring center.
In addition, Diebold’s booth featured a barista who
served Starbucks coffee. Approximately 23,000 individuals attended
the show.
Diebold security expert presents at
Security Industry Association forum
Tony Damalas,
Diebold's vice president, technology, recently presented at
the Security Industry Association’s Government Infrastructure End
Users Working Group meeting in Washington, D.C. During his
summary of a document titled “Physical Access Control System Migration
Options for Using Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS)
201 Compliant Credentials: A White Paper in the Making,” Damalas
discussed how physical access control migration strategies may be
accomplished to comply with security initiatives like FIPS 201, how
to utilize enhanced security technology to improve an organization’s
security profile, as well as how to mitigate cost. The white paper
is a project of the Physical Access Council Smart Card Alliance.
Damalas is a contributing member of the council.
