industry. The ranking was developed by American Banker and
Financial Insights, and includes vendors that derive more than
one-third of their revenue from the financial services industry.
Diebold ranked eighth in the listing, and derived more than 70

financial services industry. The awards were presented on November

Diebold launches consumer ATM security Web site
Diebold helped pioneer 24-hour access to financial accounts through
the introduction of the automated teller machine. Decades later,
Diebold is now providing consumers with unlimited access to
invaluable information about how they can increase their personal
security at the ATM.
Diebold has launched an exclusive Web site dedicated
to ATM security. The first Web site of its kind, it provides
consumer tips to protect against crimes ranging from robbery to
electronic fraud. The Web site also highlights industry news and
alerts about emerging ATM crimes. Diebold is the first ATM
manufacturer to produce a Web site focused solely on ATM crime
prevention. The company encourages financial institutions to link
to the site from their own Web sites, providing their customers and
members with the information they need to increase their own
personal safety and better secure their personal finances.

Diebold goes global to combat fraud in Latin America
Diebold has teamed up with Avant Technologies to add a high level of
digital security to the ATH ATM banking network, the largest of its
kind in Colombia with more than 1,000 ATMs. The technology links
high-resolution images with transaction data using digital cameras
positioned within bank branches and mounted on ATMs. The new
surveillance assists financial institutions in resolving theft
claims and detecting fraudulent behavior.
Another layer of security involves the installation
of electronic sensors behind the ATM fascia to detect foreign
objects that could be used for fraudulent purposes. These objects
could be positioned on the ATM screen, card reader, cash dispenser
or key pad. Once the object is detected, the sensor triggers an
alarm to alert ATM users that the terminal has been tampered with
and should not be used.

initiatives, visit

Diebold continues expansion in the Middle East
Diebold is set to grow its presence in The United Arab Emirates with
the opening of a new service-support center in Abu Dhabi. Managed
by Diebold’s long-time partner, Alhamrani Universal Company (AU),
the new service-support center will enable Diebold to provide local
maintenance and support to its growing customer base in the region.
The expanded partnership has already yielded a number
of successes. These include Diebold’s first customer in The United
Arab Emirates, Banque du Caire UAE. Also included is a recent deal
with the country’s second-oldest bank, Mashreqbank. Diebold is also
making its first steps into Kuwait and Yemen, where new sales are
currently in the works. In Saudi Arabia, AU has strengthened its
relationship with several leading financial institutions, supplying
additional Diebold services and solutions to customers including
National Commercial Bank, Al Rajhi and Riyad Bank.
Diebold leader tapped as keynote speaker at
international conference
Chuck Ducey, Diebold’s vice president of Global Customer Service
Solutions, was chosen as a keynote speaker for the Association for
Services Management International’s (AFSMI) world conference. Ducey
addressed attendees of the conference – the world’s largest
gathering of executives and managers in customer service and support
– in October in Nashville. Ducey was selected because of Diebold’s
leadership in the service arena and spoke about service strategy,
highlighting Diebold’s four-pronged strategy to improve service
support and delivery.
