Michigan
county court deploys Diebold ATM for juror payment
Washtenaw County 22nd circuit court recently deployed an
Opteva® 520 lobby, cash-dispensing ATM to distribute juror payments.
The ATM dispenses cash cards in one of four fixed denominations,
based on the amount of time they serve as a juror as well as their
mileage reimbursement, immediately following jury service.
In addition to juror reimbursement, the ATM is also available to
other courthouse visitors. Besides reducing administrative time and
costs, the ATM will save the finance department more than $5,000 a
year in postage and staffing costs for processing and mailing
checks. To read the entire case study,

Diebold’s new
office marks official entry into government security market
Diebold recently opened a
new office in Sterling, Va., to mark its official entry into the
government security market. The office includes a government
solutions exhibit hall, featuring Diebold security applications such
as biometric access control, closed-circuit television, smart cards,
visitor enrollment and photo identification badge system, network
video recorders, intrusion detection and certified Sensitive
Compartmented Information Facility solution (SCIF).
Diebold has two
competitive advantages in the government security market. First, it
is the only company of its kind that can install and service
barrier, logical (IT) and physical security solutions. It also
features solutions that comply with HSPD-12 (Homeland Security
Presidential Directive) standards. This federal mandate, designed to
improve security at government agencies, involves a government-wide
standard for secure and reliable forms of identification issued by
the federal government to employees and contractors, and covers
physical and logical access to federally controlled facilities and
information systems.
A grand opening
celebration is scheduled for June 28-29, and will include tours of
the facility.
Newsletter
provides valuable information about ATM fraud and security issues
Diebold’s
SecurityMatters newsletter
is a quarterly publication designed to facilitate
open communication about and awareness of fraud and security-related
issues that affect financial institutions. Created by
Diebold’s Global Security Task Force, it features tips for
protecting ATMs, including free-standing island terminals, provides
guidance for selecting and keeping PINs secure, highlights recent
fraud reports and more. The latest issue includes a Diebold Card
Fraud Survey that shows men are more vulnerable than women.
Diebold joins
Technology Professional Services Association
Diebold recently joined the Technology Professional Services
Association (TPSA), an organization that provides information,
concepts, models and best practices required for success in the
technology marketplace. TPSA also documents intellectual property,
recommends training vendors and curricula and analyzes and certifies
programs that have demonstrated exceptional thought leadership and
skill enhancement in selling, delivery and management of technology
professional services.
“As technology
providers to our customers, it is imperative that Diebold is engaged
in the establishment of standards and best practices as validated by
TPSA,” said Chuck Somers, vice president, managed and
professional services. “The growth of professional services in
product-centric companies is something that many companies struggle
with. By joining this organization, we decrease our learning curve
and bring better and more relevant solutions to our customers.”
Diebold expands
digital video recorder offering
Diebold recently expanded its line of digital video recorders (DVR)
through a partnership with Honeywell. Diebold is one of the
industry’s biggest security integrators, and the addition of this
product line enables the company to offer more options to its
customers as they plan their security strategy.
The new product
line includes:
-
4x4 – A
stand alone or networked DVR with built-in audio recording
capabilities.
-
Rapid EyeTM
– An intelligent digital storage management tool that combines
video, audio and data capabilities in a single recorder unit.
-
Fusion – A
pc-based DVR with the ability to capture 480 images per second.
“Each of these
products provides a variety of storage and network options,” said
Diebold’s Michael DeWalt, senior electronic security product
manager. “This flexibility ensures that all customers – from those
looking to do a simple VCR replacement to those conducting high-end
multiple installations – have a product to meet their specific
needs.”
