Diebold assists New York bank in disaster recovery effort
Last June, a flood in central New York damaged two Wilber National Bank (Wilber) branches in Sidney, N.Y., and Walton, N.Y.  In addition to structural damage, much of the bank’s equipment was destroyed including ATMs, security, undercounter, drive up and video surveillance equipment, as well as its alarms and safes.

Wilber’s main priority after the flood was to re-establish service to its customers as quickly as possible. Shortly after the flooding, the bank opened temporary banking facilities in trailers in the Walton and Sidney markets. To assist Wilber in its disaster recovery efforts, Diebold loaned the bank an ATM to use on a temporary basis. In addition, Diebold associates worked long hours and weekends to ensure Wilber had everything it needed.

“Diebold provided us what we needed, when we needed it – and we didn’t have to ask,” said Brett Fisk, Wilber's vice president of facilities and security. “This experience solidified our relationship with the company. Diebold really pulled together to do what was necessary to help us get things up and running as quickly as possible.”

Seven months later, Wilber had both branches back in their permanent locations. Although the flood was a temporary inconvenience, Fisk feels it provided Wilber an opportunity to improve its branch for better customer service.
