Diebold ranks
fourth on Bank Technology News’
Top 10 Technology Companies
to Watch List
Diebold ranked fourth on Bank Technology News’ 2006 “Top 10
Technology Companies to Watch” List. The list, which has been
compiled annually since 2002, is comprised of the publication’s
picks for top technology companies in the financial services
industry. Other companies on this year’s list include: Oracle, RSA
Security and Trusted Network Technologies. Diebold is the only ATM
manufacturer to ever make the list.
Diebold was selected for its efforts to deliver desired customer
solutions including branch transformation, which will enable banks
to improve in-branch sales efforts by automating traditional
transactions. In addition, Bank Technology News recognized
Diebold’s continuous commitment to security through the recent
acquisition of Actcom,
a leader in
identification and enterprise security, serving the governmental
market.
Diebold’s global
security division conducts water-tight test on Library Of Congress
safe
Diebold
recently put one of its safes to a
water-tight test
at the company’s security facility in Canton, Ohio, to
demonstrate its ability to prevent water leaks.
Professionals from
Stark State Fire Training Technical College, including Fred Bertram,
department chair of emergency services; Jeff Magee, emergency fire
services coordinator; and Tim Berczik, fire instructor, were more
than happy to drench the 5,500-pound safe from several angles with
60 gallons of water per minute for more than 15 minutes. The water
came from a fire truck water hose provided by the City of Canton,
Ohio.
The safe, which
will house priceless cultural artifacts from the Library of Congress
in Washington, D.C., has a double-door design and stands 70 inches
high, 65 ˝ inches wide and 55 ˝ inches deep.
In addition to
being water tight, the safe is equipped with a full alarm system
that’s burglar-resistive. It has an
electronic locking mechanism, an all stainless steel polished
interior, heavy duty stainless steel adjustable shelves, a UL
burglary attack listing and a two-hour, 350 degree Fahrenheit
internal temperature fire resistance rating.
