Diebold partners with Perceptive Sciences for consumer ATM usability study
A recent article in B2B (Business to Business) Magazine mentioned Diebold’s recent partnership with Perceptive Sciences, a market research firm specializing in behavioral research, to conduct a two-phase research study on an ATM product in the development phase.

The first phase of the project is a comparative research study in which Diebold and Perceptive Sciences will observe consumers’ behavior at banks to see how they perform transactions. The second phase of the study, which will be completed in conjunction with one of Diebold’s customers, will observe consumers conducting transactions on ATMs that are in development, and will be supplemented with interviews about product usability.

“Usability research allows Diebold to better understand user needs and provide product and software solutions that are intuitive, desirable and easy to use,” said Dave Barker, principal strategist for strategic design and brand integrity for Diebold. “It also helps us pinpoint possible causes of errors and areas of poor usability that lead to low customer satisfaction.”

Diebold is committed to developing self-service products that exceed consumers’ expectations.  Diebold’s industrial design team includes design professionals who are dedicated to human factors, usability and accessibility.

New Diebold white paper examines the future of the self-service channel
Changes in consumer behavior, regulation, legislation and technology are forcing the financial industry to take another look at the self-service channel and its role in the overall retail delivery strategy. Peg Bost, Diebold’s director of financial industry marketing, has developed a white paper that outlines how financial institutions can establish and implement long-term ATM strategies, including the role the ATM will play within the entire enterprise. Bost also shares best practices and illustrates the return on investment that can be achieved by enhancing self-service offerings. To access the complete white paper, click here.

Diebold’s Product Application Services allows customers to visualize projects before construction begins
Diebold’s Product Application Services (PAS) provides professional services that enable Diebold customers to visualize what their financial facilities will look like upon completion, before construction even begins. Through the use of product application assistance, product cut sheets, design services and product installation drawings, Diebold PAS is a strategic extension of financial institutions, offering assistance from concept to completion.

Diebold PAS works closely with architects and contractors throughout the design and construction phases to ensure branch products and concepts are optimally applied and correctly installed into a customer’s new or existing facility.  By providing project-specific site layouts and floor plans, PAS can recommend branch designs that utilize the newest technologies to maximize branch efficiencies, provide consumer convenience and promote branch security.

A recent project for a financial institution in Hawaii utilized many Diebold PAS services including:

  • Floor space allocation and interior concepts were shared with the project architect to aid in plan development
  • PAS directed placement of products including drive-up and RemoteTeller pneumatic tube systems, a self-service safe deposit vault and ATMs
  • Furniture design of the concierge station, check desk, member services desks and member kiosk
  • PAS assisted with amenities including an Internet café and waiting/education area
  • Product installation drawings helped specify wall openings and electrical requirements, which assisted contractors and Diebold with installing the products
