Customer:
Maritime Savings Bank

Benefits Summary:
Diebold technology helped bridge the gap that separated the main building from a second structure devoted to the bank's ATM and drive-through.

Last year, Maritime Savings Bank purchased a former AT&T building, once populated with telephone operators, and turned it into the bank's new corporate offices.

The West Allis, Wisconsin, building was vacant for a number of years, but now serves as an efficient, attractive focal point for Maritime Savings' operations. The building provided more space for the bank, which has grown to just over US$200 million in assets and today has five locations in the greater Milwaukee area.

"We refurbished the whole building," says Carol Dovi, a vice president at the bank. "We put in a branch, our corporate office, our servicing departments, a mortgage subsidiary-all incorporated in the same building."

Bridging the gap.
Diebold added modernity to the mix, using technology to help bridge the 130-foot gap that separated the main building from a second structure devoted to the bank's ATM and drive-through. For instance, Diebold's Vacuum Air Tube (VAT) 23, an underground pneumatic system, provides dependable operation at a distance to the bank's customers.

Bringing the customer and teller closer together is another Diebold solution, Comm Master®, a two-way communication system with audio and video capabilities. The system enables the customer service representatives and drive-through customers to see and talk with one another on a monitor.

"It works out wonderfully," says Dovi. "Because of the distance, there is no other way the customer service reps could see who is in the car." And at the same time, the customers benefit: they are just far enough away to be able to admire the restored splendor of the remodeled building.
