Axeda Recognizes Diebold For Innovative Deployment Of OpteView
Diebold has earned the annual Axeda Remote Service Leadership Award
for its innovative implementation and deployment of its OpteView®
service.
The Axeda award selections were judged by the Aberdeen Group, a
prestigious, third-party analyst firm that has extensively covered
the remote product service (RPS) market.
OpteView monitors and diagnoses ATMs remotely, then either fixes the
machine online, or dispatches an engineer with the exact information
and parts needed to correct the problem.
“The Remote Services Leadership Award is a significant
accomplishment and it would not have been possible without the
continued support of Diebold leadership and the daily efforts of
everyone who contributes to its growth and success,” said Paul
Mercina, director, software and services product management.
Diebold introduced OpteView in April 2006, following more than two
years of in-house development to combine Axeda’s high-security
technology with its own enhancements. Read the
press release.

Diebold Express
Cash Dispensers Improve Transaction Speed And Security
When Black Hills Federal Credit Union, located in
Rapid City, S.D., wanted to increase transaction speed and reduce
the amount of time tellers spent counting cash, it began replacing
its existing equipment with Diebold’s 220 Express Cash Dispensers (ECDs).
Almost immediately, Black Hills noticed an improvement. The Diebold
units were faster, more accurate and more reliable than the previous
teller cash dispensers it had used. In addition, Black Hills staff
reported improvements in the credit union’s balancing and auditing
process.
“We were able to increase teller efficiency and reduce downtime
right away with the 220 ECDs,” said Jana Plooster, regional service
manager, Black Hills Federal Credit Union. “They definitely helped
us provide a better member experience.”
The ECDs also provided a significant security advantage for Black
Hills. With the largest cash capacity in the industry, the ECD
enables tellers to keep less cash in their drawers, giving Black
Hills greater control over its cash flow. It also allowed the bank
to store cash overnight in the teller line, instead of moving money
to the vault at the close of business each day.
“We love Diebold products, as well as the service we receive,”
Plooster added. “It keeps us coming back to Diebold time and time
again.” Read the entire
case study.

150th
anniversary: 'Mosler’s
Change Of Ownership Was An Important Milestone'
“Many say that the biggest change Diebold underwent
was its entrance into the ATM business. I believe that is true;
however, I’d say another big change happened even before we started
selling ATMs… and that was the change of ownership of Mosler,” said
Bill McGurk, retired area sales manager, Northeast.
“This was an important milestone because it weakened a good
competitor and led many regional banks to consider independent local
dealers. Prior to the change of ownership, Mosler had a personal
touch with its customers, like we did. However, when it was
purchased, those relationships were lost. Also contributing to this
change was the retirement of many of Mosler’s older sales associates
who had strong relationships with customers.
“Overall, this change had a significant impact on the industry,"
recalled McGurk. "If a customer wanted to receive more than one
proposal for business, it no longer had another company that was
comparable to Diebold’s business and prestige. More than they had in
previous years, customers began doing business with independent and
foreign equipment suppliers, which caused price to become more
important than value, at least for some customers. Diebold competed
against these parties and did well, but this transition greatly
affected the nature of the business.”
