More
than 140 years ago, Diebold went into business making strong, reliable safes.
Today, we remain a leader in providing electronic and physical security products,
backed by services and support for financial institutions as well as for government,
industrial and commercial markets. In fact, we're particularly proud to be providing
the security systems for the renovated National Archives building, which houses
such national treasures as the Declaration of Independence and the U.S. Constitution
and Bill of Rights.
As a security-based company providing high-tech, integrated systems, software
and services, we're making sure other self-service applications are just as safe
and reliable. Among the more important such applications are voting systems. During
2002, our Diebold Election Systems subsidiary broke new ground by winning contracts
for and delivering more than 27,000 electronic touch-screen voting stations in
Georgia and Maryland alone. The Election Day results? Our customers won by a landslide,
with our voting systems delivering smooth, secure performance.
Based on these results, our election systems business continues to gain momentum.
Most recently, Diebold was selected to provide some 10,000 touch-screen voting
systems for about 1,600 polling locations in San Diego County, Calif. |
