fronts. Acquisitions strengthened Diebold's presence in major global
markets and broadened its lineup of solutions. Infrastructure enhancements
around the world strengthened Diebold's ability to distribute those
solutions. The Company also solidified its strong support services,
which enhance installed systems' capabilities and ensure reliable
performance.
It is services,
in fact, that round out Diebold's competitive edge. To deliver offerings
that are on target, Diebold works with customers to identify the
top business issues they face. Time and again, six stand out: increase
revenue, promote image, improve functionality, increase availability,
increase efficiency and reduce risks. Diebold then customizes its
products and services to meet those challenges - at banks and financial
institutions, retailers, colleges and universities, healthcare facilities

Projecting the brand
DIEBOLD INTRODUCED
the "D" Mark in 1998 as a compact version of a new Company logo.
The italic treatment of the "D" and the graphic swirl of the "D"
Mark suggest forward movement and a dynamic company that is breaking
old bonds and globally expanding its opportunities.
During 1999,
an advertising campaign in key global markets helped build awareness
and interest in Diebold among targeted audiences. As a result, the
"D" Mark, in bold, electric Diebold blue, increasingly represents
Diebold's hallmark approach to providing self-service technology
and integrated solutions to business challenges.
