DIEBOLD IS EXTENDING ITS GLOBAL REACH via strategic acquisitions that allow the Company access to more customers in more geographic areas. Acquisitions also give Diebold new and different self-service technologies that can then be offered to customers in other markets.

> In a strategic move to enhance worldwide market coverage, Diebold announced an agreement early in 2000 to acquire the international financial self-service assets of Getronics NV and Groupe Bull. > Acquisitions in Latin America in 1999 made Diebold the clear self-service leader there, adding to its already strong presence in Mexico, Argentina and Venezuela. The latest acquisitions include Brazil-based Procomp, Colombia-based Richardson & Cia Ltd. and the ATM service business of Colombia-based Comware S.A. Procomp manufactures and markets self-service solutions for banking, retail and election automation. Richardson & Cia was renamed Diebold Colombia, S.A., and handles sales and service in Colombia. These build on Diebold's earlier purchases of what are now Diebold Argentina and Diebold DPB S.A. > The purchase of U.S.-based Nexus Software, Inc. helped round out Diebold's global solutions lineup with support for retail bank branch operations moving to new, more capable Windows NT operating systems.
