• Diebold expands its presence in Europe and enhances its position in financial self-service with the acquisition of the financial self-service assets and related development activities of Getronics NV (Amsterdam) and Groupe Bull (Paris).
   
• Diebold's Procomp subsidiary is awarded the largest order in Diebold history providing nearly 200,000 voting terminals to the Tribunal Superior Eleitoral of Brazil in an agreement valued at more than US $100 million.
